December 9, 2005

Only 16 more sleeps until Santa comes! Are you excited? I am sure you are more focused on the 7 more sleeps until winter vacation begins. That being said, this is your last reading before the holidays. We are going to finish up with Word Processing on Tuesday, so I would like you read pages 44-45 in the text and answer the following questions about other things DTP programs can do:
  1. What is text wrapping?
  2. Why is text wrapping useful?
  3. What is the strength of DTP?
  4. When it comes to paper size what is an advantage of using DTP as opposed to a word processing program?
  5. What are 5 rules to making good looking documents in DTP?
These questions are due when we next meet on December 13. Good luck and I can't wait to find out who my Secret Santa is!

Homework for December 6, 2005

Hey guys, it's been awhile, but we are almost at the end of our Word section and ready to move on to DTP. So, what you are to do is read the introduction to DTP in the text found on pages 42-43. Then, answer the following questions:

  1. What two advances revolutionized the way printed materials were produced?
  2. Describe how the letter press worked.
  3. Describe how photo-type setting worked.
  4. Give two reasons why DTP is more flexible that regular Word Processing.
  5. How do you achieve a newspaper style look using DTP?
Remember to answer the questions in your own words to demonstrate you understand the material. This homework is due on Friday, December 9, 2005. Good luck and I look forward to reading your corrected Spell Check poems.
